02/10​Kamakhya Devi temple

Located in Assam, the Kamakhya Devi temple is one of the most famous and respected Shaktipeeth in India. It is dedicated to the goddess Kamakhya, who is an incarnation of Shakti. The miracle of this temple is the menstruating Goddess who lives here. It is said that the ‘Yoni’ of Mata Sati fell in this spot, and since then every year for 4 days the Goddess menstruates. During the Ambubachi Mela, the temple is closed for three days, symbolising the goddess’s menstrual cycle and devotees believe that during this period, the Brahmaputra River near the temple turns red.

The Kaal Bhairav temple in Ujjain is probably one of the most unique temples in India. While people are given oaths of Gods to not drink too much alcohol, in Kaal Bhairav temple, the deity is offered liquor. The offering of alcohol is believed to appease the deity and grant the wishes of the devotees. Devotees bring bottles of liquor, which are then poured into a cup and placed near the idol. Miraculously, the liquor disappears, as if consumed by someone sitting right there.

The temple of Bijli Mahadev experiences a miracle after every 12 years! Dedicated to Lord Shiva, it is said that after every 12 years, after taking permission from Lord Shiva, Indra Dev strikes his lightning on the shivling present inside the temple. Struck by lightning, the Shivling shatters into pieces. The temple priests then put the Shivling back together using butter.

Another miracle of a beautiful Indian temple is the ‘ulti dhwaja’ of Jagannath mandir, Puri. How? Well, the flags, the leaves, and anything that is swayed by air usually flows in the direction in which the air is flowing. But, in Jagannath temple, the flag on top is always seen flying in the opposite direction to the air! There are 2-3 more flags in the same vicinity, but it is only the flag of the Jagannath temple that can be seen flying in the opposite direction to the wind. Not just that, the flag is also changed everyday by a priest of the temple. It is said that if the flag remains unchanged even for a single day, it can bring great tragedy and turmoil to the people of the world.
