And in the many different regions and states, there are some temples that are true miracles. From removing evil, ghostly spirits, to turning hot, boiling water to icy cold one, these miracles are truly one of a kind.

02/10Kamakhya Devi temple
Located in Assam, the Kamakhya Devi temple is one of the most famous and respected Shaktipeeth in India. It is dedicated to the goddess Kamakhya, who is an incarnation of Shakti. The miracle of this temple is the menstruating Goddess who lives here. It is said that the ‘Yoni’ of Mata Sati fell in this spot, and since then every year for 4 days the Goddess menstruates. During the Ambubachi Mela, the temple is closed for three days, symbolising the goddess’s menstrual cycle and devotees believe that during this period, the Brahmaputra River near the temple turns red.

In Rajasthan, the Mehendipur Balaji temple is famous as the ‘exorcist temple’ of India. People who are affected negatively by evil spirits and supernatural problems come to Mehendipur Balaji to get rid of the evil spirit.
It is the temple that performs the miracle of ridding people of black magic, demonic possession, and other paranormal activities.

The Devji Maharaj temple in MP is another important temple where devotees seek protection from evil. The temple has an annual fair known as the ‘Bhoot Mela’, where people from various parts of the country come to rid themselves of demonic possession and other supernatural entities.
05/10Nidhivan and Shri Krishna’s leela
Nidhivan, the most famous site in Vrindavan, is a mysterious and miraculous place. It is believed that every night, Lord Krishna along with Radha rani and the gopis perform their ‘Ras Leela’ and anyone who tries to see their divine play or stays in the area after dark is struck blind or even loses their mental balance.
06/10Kaal Bhairav temple
The Kaal Bhairav temple in Ujjain is probably one of the most unique temples in India. While people are given oaths of Gods to not drink too much alcohol, in Kaal Bhairav temple, the deity is offered liquor. The offering of alcohol is believed to appease the deity and grant the wishes of the devotees. Devotees bring bottles of liquor, which are then poured into a cup and placed near the idol. Miraculously, the liquor disappears, as if consumed by someone sitting right there.

Kasar Devi temple in Uttarakhand is filled with mysteries and miracles. The Kasar devi temple is one of the 3 locations through which the ‘Van Allen’ belt passes. The Van Allen belt is descried as a zone of energetic charged particles around the Earth. This gives the place a strong magnetic field, which is believed to have a great result on the human mind and body and devotees who visit Kasar Devi temple experience heightened state of devotion and meditative powers.
08/10Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple
Another Indian temple with a miraculous idol of the deity is this one. The Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple is known for a phenomenon where hot water poured over the idol of the deity turns cold instantly. It is said that if you pour hot water through any other part of the body, it will remain hot when reaching his feet. And, it is only when the water is poured from his head that it cools down when falling on his feet.

09/10Bijli Mahadev
The temple of Bijli Mahadev experiences a miracle after every 12 years! Dedicated to Lord Shiva, it is said that after every 12 years, after taking permission from Lord Shiva, Indra Dev strikes his lightning on the shivling present inside the temple. Struck by lightning, the Shivling shatters into pieces. The temple priests then put the Shivling back together using butter.
10/10Jagannath temple
Another miracle of a beautiful Indian temple is the ‘ulti dhwaja’ of Jagannath mandir, Puri. How? Well, the flags, the leaves, and anything that is swayed by air usually flows in the direction in which the air is flowing. But, in Jagannath temple, the flag on top is always seen flying in the opposite direction to the air! There are 2-3 more flags in the same vicinity, but it is only the flag of the Jagannath temple that can be seen flying in the opposite direction to the wind. Not just that, the flag is also changed everyday by a priest of the temple. It is said that if the flag remains unchanged even for a single day, it can bring great tragedy and turmoil to the people of the world.
