and shooting down 158 drones across 15 regions, including two over the capital city of Moscow.
Reports indicate that a coal-fired power plant near the city and an oil refinery within the city limits were targeted during the attack.
A local official reported that three drones had attempted to strike the Kashira coal-fired power station.

The official said, “There were no victims nor damages,” and added that electricity was still being supplied to clients “correctly.”
Russian news agencies also reported a fire at the Moscow oil refinery in Kapotnya, although mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed that there were no casualties or damage.

The majority of the drones, totaling 122, were neutralized over the regions of Kursk, Bryansk, Voronezh, and Belgorod, which share borders with Ukraine, according to the Russian defence ministry. Regional governor Aleksandr Bogomaz said, “Our defenders are repelling an attempted massive UAV attack on the territory of the Bryansk region.”
Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov of the Belgorod region said, “The glass of three residential buildings in Belgorod is damaged. In one private residence, a utility building was completely destroyed.”

This drone barrage follows one of the most significant attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, which involved over 200 Russian drones and missiles. Since the beginning of Russia’s campaign in Ukraine in February 2022, both sides have targeted each other’s energy infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian drones on Wednesday attacked two fuel depots in southwest Russia’s Rostov region and the northern Kirov region, causing them to catch fire.
Earlier, Ukraine launched an offensive in Russia’s Kursk region, even as Russian forces continue to make steady progress in eastern Ukraine.
