Recently, unseen photos of the actress’s stunning look surfaced, giving fans a closer glimpse into the magical moments from her wedding festivities with filmmaker Vignesh Shivan.
Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan’s love story began in 2014 on the sets of their film ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan’. The duo quickly fell in love, and their relationship blossomed over the years. After nearly a decade of dating, they tied the knot in 2022 in a lavish ceremony that blended tradition with grandeur. While their wedding photos captured the internet’s heart, their recent documentary, ‘Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairytale,’ reveals the whirlwind journey of planning their dream wedding.

by Monica Shah, which exemplified elegance and royalty. The ‘Ek Taar’ lehenga featured intricate golden embroidery, with the blouse adorned with a touch of vibrant patterns. The ensemble was elevated with a gold-embellished dupatta that added a regal charm to her look.
To complete her attire, the actress paired the outfit with statement jewellery, including a bold necklace and matching earrings. Her choice of accessories perfectly complemented the intricate work on her lehenga.

Vignesh Shivan, not one to be overshadowed, matched his bride in a custom red kurta set from the same designer. His outfit was a blend of vibrant hues and detailed craftsmanship, reflecting the couple’s appreciation for tradition and modernity. Together, they made a picture-perfect duo, embodying grace and style.
While the grandeur of Nayanthara and Vignesh’s wedding at the Sheraton Grand Chennai Resort and Spa in Mahabalipuram left everyone in awe, the planning process was far from smooth. According to the actress, the original plan of having a traditional Hindu wedding at the Tirupati Tirumala temple had to be scrapped due to unforeseen logistical issues.
With just ten days to prepare, the couple shifted gears and successfully orchestrated a grand celebration that maintained its cultural essence.
Blending traditions with a personal touch
For those unfamiliar, Nayanthara, born Diana Kurien, converted to Hinduism in 2011 and officially adopted her stage name. Despite her mother’s desire to see her in a Christian wedding gown, Nayanthara wanted a Hindu wedding to honour her beliefs and identity.
In the documentary, she shared her vision of creating a ceremony that blended both Hindu and Christian traditions. She explained, “Because I am a born Christian, my mom always wanted to see me in that Christian attire – the wedding gown kind of thing. But, since I have become a Hindu, and we have to do a Hindu wedding, I just thought it should be like a beautiful mix of both a Hindu and a Christian wedding. So we kept it a Hindu wedding with an English touch.”
From her meticulously planned wedding attire to her ability to blend traditions seamlessly, Nayanthara continues to inspire fans with her authenticity and elegance. Her red mehendi lehenga, a proof of her refined fashion sense, has set major goals for brides-to-be.
The intimate details of her wedding planning, revealed through the documentary and unseen photos, showcase the love and effort the couple poured into making their special day unforgettable. Whether it’s her royal red lehenga or the story behind her wedding’s cultural blend, Nayanthara proves once again why she’s fondly known as the “Lady Superstar.”
