: Banks across the country are gearing up for a series of
holidays in April 2024
, marking the start of the new financial year. The
Reserve Bank of India
(RBI) has issued its annual list of holidays, and both
public and private sector banks
will be closed for about 14 days throughout the month. This includes weekends, comprising the second and fourth Saturdays, along with Sundays.
In the first month of the new financial year, there will be 14 bank holidays.
Banks across India will celebrate various festivals including Gudhi Padwa, Eid-Ul-Fitr, Bohag Bihu, Ram Navami, Baisakhi, and more.
It’s important to note that while the total number of holidays remains the same across the country, specific holidays may vary depending on the state or region. However, internet banking services will remain operational, and
ATM
services will also be available during these holidays.

Here’s the list of bank holidays for April 2024, starting from April 1st:
– April 1:
Banks closed
for yearly accounts closing
– April 5: Babu Jagjivan Ram’s Birthday/Jumat-ul-Vida
– April 9: Gudhi Padwa/Ugadi Festival/Telugu New Year’s Day/Sajibu Nongmapanba (Cheiraoba)/1st Navratra
– April 10: Ramzan-Id (Eid-Ul-Fitr)
– April 11: Ramzan-Id (Eid-Ul-Fitr) (1st Shawaal)
– April 13: Bohag Bihu/Cheiraoba/Baisakhi/Biju Festival
– April 15: Bohag Bihu/Himachal Day
– April 17: Shree Ram Navami (Chaite Dasain)
– April 20: Garia Puja
In addition to the listed holidays, banks will also be closed on certain weekends as per the Holiday Under Negotiable Instruments Act. These days are as follows:
