NEW DELHI: The Maharashtra State Examination Council has released the selection list for the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS 2023-24) today, April 13. The Ministry of Education has allocated a quota of 11,682 NMMS scholarships for Maharashtra.

Students who took part in the Maha NMMS examination can now check and download the selection list from the official website at nmms2024.nmmsmsce.in.

The council has informed about the cancellation of two questions, namely the 69th and 80th questions, from the Mental Ability Test (MAT). This exam was conducted on December 24, and the results, including the marks obtained by students for NMMS Maharashtra 2023-24, were declared on February 7.

For students in the general category, qualification requires obtaining a minimum of 40% marks, while reserved category candidates need to secure at least 32%.

Maharashtra NMMS 2023: Tie-breaking Rule

In instances of score ties, the following tie-breaking procedure will be followed:

  • Priority will be accorded to the student with superior marks in the Mental Ability Test (MAT) paper.
  • If the MAT paper scores are identical, preference will be given to the student with higher marks in mathematics on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) paper.
  • Should the mathematics scores on the SAT paper also be equal, preference will be granted to the student with higher marks in science.
  • If the tie persists, precedence will be given to the older student.
  • In cases of identical age, priority will be assigned to the student based on the English initial of their last name.

Maharashtra NMMS Reservation Policy

The MSEC has established a district-wise quota system based on the number of Class 8 enrolments and students aged 12 to 14. The reservation policy for each district is outlined as follows:

► General category students are initially selected based on merit.

► Subsequently, eligible students from the remaining nine backward classes are chosen.

► Additionally, a four percent reservation is allocated for differently abled individuals within each cadre. This includes:

  • 1% for Blindness and Low Vision (BLV)
  • 1% for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DH)
  • 1% for Locomotor Disability (LD)
  • 1% for Autism, Intellectual Disability, Specific Learning Disability, and Mental Illness (AID), as well as Multiple Disabilities, including Deaf-Blindness (MD), with specific posts identified for each disability.

► If the four percent quota for differently abled individuals is not fulfilled, candidates from the next disabled category are considered in order of merit.
