Kajol has become a victim of a deepfake video that shows her changing clothes and it has gone viral on social media. According to the fact-checking platform Boom, in the clip, Kajol’s face was superimposed on a video of English social media influencer Rosie Breen. The report also claimed that the original video was uploaded on TikTok on June 5 as a part of the ‘Get Ready With Me’ trend. This incident has reignited concerns surrounding deepfake videos. A while ago, Rashmika Mandanna’s deepfake video took the internet by storm. The clip showed a woman dressed in a black yoga bodysuit, whose face was morphed as Rashmika, entering an elevator while smiling for the camera. Katrina Kaif has also fallen prey to deepfake as her AI-generated morphed picture from ‘Tiger 3’s towel fight scene emerged on social media and went viral. While the original image featured Katrina engaging in a fight with Michelle Lee, donning a white towel, the morphed image showed her in the same pose but with a different and altered outfit, making her look indecent. However, hours later, the fake image was removed from social media. Amid multiple cases of deepfake videos, many B-town celebs have expressed their concern. While Amitabh Bachchan called it a ‘strong case for legal’, Mrunal Thakur said, ‘Shame on people who resort to such things, it shows that there is no conscience left at all in such people’. Naga Chaitanya stated, ‘It’s truly disheartening to see how technology is being misused.’ Following the uproar, the Indian government issued an advisory to major social media platforms, urging swift action against morphed clips and removal of misleading content within 36 hours of a complaint.
