Anupam Kher reveals he nearly went bankrupt, recalls incident when police laughed after his car was stolen

. Despite his success in films, Kher encountered severe challenges around 2003-2004, when he was on the verge of losing both his home and office.
In a conversation on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, Kher recounted how, this challenging phase was compounded by an unfortunate incident when his car was stolen right outside a temple, which he humorously described as turning his misfortune into a comedic moment for the police officers involved.

During this challenging time, his car was stolen outside the Mahalakshmi temple. “I left the car running and stepped out to pray,” he explained. As he prayed, a thief drove away with his vehicle. When he reported the incident to the police, they couldn’t stop laughing, saying it felt like a scene straight out of a movie. Kher’s resilience shines through as he continues to thrive in his career.
