Arshad Warsi reflects on 'cult classic' 'Jaani Dushman' where he was smiling during his own death scene

In 2002, the Indian audience was treated to a cult classic ‘

Jaani Dushman

.’ Upon its release, the movie was able to earn Rs18 crore at the box office. Though it didn’t perform too well at the BO, with its television premiere, it became one of the most-watched movies. With its gripping plot and graphics, the movie got the status of a ‘cult’ movie. There can be hardly a ’90s kid who would have not seen the film. Recently, Arshad Warsi, who worked in the thriller spoke about the movie and his experience of working in it. He mentioned how it is the only movie where Arshad was laughing at his own death scene.
Arshad further joked and told the interviewer he requested the director to kill his character first. “It’s a cult movie. I love it. It’s the only film where I have laughed myself to death. If you look closely, you’ll see a smile on my face when I’m dying,” said Arshad Warsi in his conversation with Mashable.
“That was one film where my first request was ‘Sir, sabse pehle aap mujhe maaroge.’ He said, ‘Nahi yaar, do ke baad tujhe maarunga.’ I said, ‘Theek hai sir,’(Sir you will kill me first, and he replied, after two characters and I was like ok sir)” he added.
During the same conversation, Arshad recalled Akshay Kumar was very keen to do every actor’s role. He had an outstanding idea which he ran past the director saying every time a character dies, Akshay Kumar would come back in a new avatar as their reincarnation.
Helmed by Rajkumar Kohli, ‘Jaani Dushman’ was a multistarrer. It had Akshay Kumar, Manisha Koirala, Sunny Deol, Armaan Kohli, Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Sonu Nigam and more.
