Bumrah to miss Nepal game, returns to Mumbai: Reports

NEW DELHI: India’s pace spearhead

Jasprit Bumrah

has returned to Mumbai and will miss the

Asia Cup 2023

match against Nepal scheduled on Monday in Pallekele.
Although there has been no official confirmation from the BCCI, several reports claimed that Bumrah has returned home.
However the pacer will be available for the Super Four matches in Sri Lanka.

Mohammad Shami is likely to replace him in the playing XI for the match against Nepal.

Rain looms over the final Group A fixture in Pallekele on Monday, a match which will decide the second team after Pakistan to move into the Super Four Stage of the 50-over tournament.
Bumrah recently made an international comeback after a long 10-month injury lay-off.
The 29-year-old captained India in the T20I series against Ireland.

Bumrah displayed amazing fitness and rhythm against Ireland and took four wickets in two matches, with the best figures of 2/15.

India’s opening match against arch-rivals Pakistan on Saturday was abandoned after just one innings due to rain, which is threatening to disrupt more games in the tournament seen as a tune-up to the upcoming World Cup in India.
Even if Monday’s match is washed out India will enter the next stage as they shared points with Pakistan, who thrashed Nepal in the tournament opener.
Bumrah, who has returned to the team after a long injury lay-off and made 16 with the bat in India’s 266 all out, is expected to be back by the next match.
