On Monday, a group of
Bihar Public Service Commission
(BPSC) aspirants protested, demanding the cancellation of the December 13 BPSC 70th Integrated Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) 2024 over an alleged question paper leak. On December 24, BPSC Chairperson Parmar Rai Manubhai ruled out the cancellation of the 70th CCE 2024, as reported by PTI. However, he clarified that the commission would proceed with the re-examination for candidates assigned to the Bapu Pariksha Parisar examination center on December 13. The re-examination is scheduled for January 4, 2025, and the commission has released an official notice regarding the same.
Despite this, many candidates continue to demand the examination’s cancellation. According to PTI, on Wednesday, police baton-charged protesters after some broke past barricades and disrupted traffic near the BPSC office in Patna.
“Despite repeated requests by the security personnel, they refused to vacate the road. It is a restricted area where protests are not allowed. Finally, mild force, including baton charge was used to disperse the protesters,” said Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Rajeev Mishra, as reported by PTI.
On one hand, the protesters claimed that two to three people were injured in the baton charge, while the police denied these allegations.
What are the protesters stating?
The protesters allege that the question paper for the BPSC 70th CCE was leaked before the examination began at certain centers. They are demanding the cancellation of the examination, but the commission has ruled out canceling the entire exam.
What happened on December 13 at the Patna center?
According to PTI, the commission canceled the BPSC 70th CCE examination held at the Bapu Pariksha Parisar in Patna due to the demise of an on-duty official after a ruckus was caused by some candidates on December 13, 2024. The commission has also issued show-cause notices to 34 aspirants allegedly involved in the disruption at the center.
BPSC’s latest notice on the re-examination
