CBSE Class 12 Physics Board Exam 2025: Expert-recommended expected questions from Electromagnetic Induction, Alternating Current, and Electromagnetic Waves

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the date sheet for the Class 10 and 12 Board Exams 2025. For Class 12, the exams will commence on February 15, 2025, and conclude on April 4, 2025. As per the schedule, the Class 12 Physics exam is set for February 21, 2025. With less than three months to go, students are intensively preparing for this crucial exam.
To support students in achieving excellence in the Class 12 Physics board exam, Shailendra Pandey, a Physics Wallah faculty member, has shared a list of expected questions. Students should complement these expert insights with thorough practice using textbooks, sample papers, model question papers, and previous years’ question papers available on CBSE’s official website.
This article highlights some of the anticipated questions from key chapters such as Electromagnetic Induction, Alternating Current, and Electromagnetic Waves.

Chapter 6: Electromagnetic Induction
Question 1: State Faraday’s laws of electromagnetic induction. Derive the expression for induced EMF.
Question 2: Explain Lenz’s law and its applications.
Question 3: Derive the expression for mutual inductance of two solenoids.
Question 4: Derive the expression for the self-inductance of a solenoid.
Question 5: Explain the working of an AC generator.
Chapter 7: Alternating Current

Question 1: Derive the expression for the impedance in an LCR series circuit.
Question 2: Explain the concept of resonance in an LCR circuit.
Question 3: Draw the phasor diagram for an LCR circuit.
Question 4: Explain the power factor and its significance in AC circuits.
Chapter 8: Electromagnetic Waves
Question 1: Derive the relation between electric field and magnetic field in an electromagnetic wave.
Question 2: State Maxwell’s equations and explain their physical significance.
Question 3: Write the mathematical expression for a plane electromagnetic wave propagating in space.

CBSE Board Exam 2025: Preparation tips for Class 12 Physics board exam

Create a Study Plan: Divide your study time between theory and numerical (e.g., 40% theory, 60% numerical). Make sure to allocate time for daily revisions and mock tests to stay on track and evaluate your progress regularly.
Master the Basics: Ensure a clear understanding of fundamental concepts, formulas, and definitions. Revise key formulas and derivations daily and maintain a formula sheet for quick reference during revision sessions.
Practice Numerical: Solve all solved and unsolved numerical from NCERT, focusing on high-weightage topics like Current Electricity, Electrostatics, Ray and Wave Optics, Magnetic Effects of Current, and Alternating Current. Gradually move to tougher problems from reference books.
Focus on Important Derivations: Memorize and practice step-by-step derivations, as they are often asked in exams. Focus on derivations such as the lens maker’s formula, electric field due to a dipole, Biot-Savart law, and EMF in a rotating coil (AC generator).
Solve Sample Papers: Solve at least three sample papers under exam conditions during the final month of preparation. Analyze your performance to identify weak areas, time management issues, and areas needing further revision.
Revise Regularly: Regularly revise theoretical concepts, formulas, and key questions to reinforce your knowledge. Practice numerical and derivations until you’re confident and comfortable with solving them in the exam.
