Environmentalist Vimlendu Jha on November 13 blamed the Delhi Police for not strictly implementing the ban on firecrackers in the national capital. “We saw bursting of firecrackers in many places despite the Supreme Court’s ban on fireworks in the national capital. I think that the government is responsible for that. We also saw that fire accidents have occurred in many places. AQI shot up to a severe level. We have been watching the air quality crisis for the last one week. It is the responsibility of the government and citizens. It is a collective failure. Every year, the Supreme Court orders a ban on crackers and it also did the same this year too. It was the responsibility of police and law enforcement to implement this and they completely failed,” said Vimlendu Jha.
