‘The Da Vinci Code’ by Dan Brown is one of the best thriller novels you will ever read. The amazing plot and the twists and turns throughout the book make it an engaging read that feels worth your time. Here we summarise the story for you in 10 sentences.

The story begins with Harvard professor Robert Langdon being drawn into a murder investigation at the Louvre Museum in Paris.

The victim, Jacques Saunière, leaves a series of cryptic codes and symbols at the crime scene knowing full well that Langdon will be investigating the case.

Langdon teams up with cryptologist Sophie Neveu, who also happens to be Saunière’s granddaughter, and they begin the bumpy ride trying to look through the mystery of the crime and the codes and symbols.

During their investigation, the duo, Langdon and Sophie, discover that Sauniere is part of a secret society guarding a hidden truth about the Holy Grail.

As they research ahead, going through the cases, the clues lead them through famous landmarks and artworks in Paris. They search for more evidence, clues, and hidden messages within the works of Leonardo da Vinci.

The culprit of the story turns out to be a secretive and influential Catholic organisation called Opus Dei, led by a character named Bishop Aringarosa. Opus Dei is steadfast in suppressing a revelation that could shake the foundations of Christianity.

The story then reveals that the secret being guarded was that Jesus and Mary Magdalene were married and had a child, and their descendants may still exist.

Throughout their journey, Langdon and Neveu face danger from both the police, who consider them suspects. Meanwhile, a mysterious assassin named Silas, who is working for Opus Dei, does not want the controversial idea to get out.

As the characters race against time, they decipher codes, solve puzzles, and confront the powerful forces, in the form of Opus Dei, that want to keep the secrets hidden from the world.

The story ends with a shocking revelation about the true nature of the Holy Grail and the historical secrets guarded by various secret organisations. Sophie too, at the end, meets her brother and grandmother, who she thought were killed.
