Imtiaz Ali breaks silence on Jab We Met sequel

Jab We Met

‘ is one of the most cult films of Hindi cinema and is largely a part of the pop culture. Fans would obviously want a sequel to this

Shahid Kapoor

,

Kareena Kapoor Khan

starrer. But here’s what director

Imtiaz Ali

has to say about it!
Ali said during an interview that according to him, the film is complete in itself. He told India Today, “I wouldn’t want to make a sequel of ‘Jab We Met’ because I feel that it’s complete in itself.

I haven’t thought of ever making a sequel to that film.”
The ‘Rockstar’ director further spoke about the cult status that ‘Jab We Met’ has now achieved and he realised that when the film re-released in theatres recently. “When the film was re-released in theaters last year, people really gave a lot of love. I was shooting in Punjab and I would hear that the audiences are dancing in cinema halls etc. For one minute I would have that feeling, I wish I was there. Now it’s been 16 years, and I feel that the film is not mine, it’s the audience’s film and they celebrate it. I look at ‘Jab We Met’ like an old friend rather than my own film now,” said Imtiaz.
When asked who should be cast if ‘Jab We Met’ was remade, Imtiaz said that

Parineeti Chopra

and

Diljit Dosanjh

should be cast as Aditya and Geet. Diljit and Parineeti are a part of Imtiaz’s next, ‘Chamkila’ which is based on the life of Amar Singh

Chamkila

and his wife Amarjot Chamkila.
The film is releasing on OTT on April 12.
