India vs Sri Lanka: Indian IT minister has a best of luck message for Indian team

India is playing against Sri Lanka in the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023 and just ahead of the match, best wishes for the Men in Blue poured in from all quarters.

Indian IT minister

Rajeev Chandrasekhar also wished the Indian cricket team in a post on X.
“India vs Sri Lanka, same stadium, 12 years later. All the best to our #MenInBlue for their match today,” he said in a post on X.

Why this match is significant

India has played a lot of matches against Sri Lanka, most recently in the final of Asia Cup where the Men in Blue demolished the Lankan defence by sending the whole team back to the pavilion on a score of mere 50 runs.

The Indian team registered a win by 10 wickets.
However, despite outshining the Lankan team in Asia Cup 2023 final, this particular match holds a lot more significance. The last time these two teams met in a World Cup clash in

Wankhede Stadium

was in Cricket World Cup 2011 finals, which India won by 6 wickets (with 10 balls remaining).
The match brings back good memories with some called the fixture nostalgic and others terming it as cricketing coincidence.
India vs Sri Lanka head-to-head
Both the teams have played 167 matches against each other in ODI format. Out of these 167 matches, India has won 98 matches while Sri Lanka has won only 57 matches. There was no result in 12 matches. The match will be live streamed on Disney+ Hotstar for free on mobiles.
