Mercedes-Benz

has launched the

2024 E-Class

Long Wheelbase (LWB) in India, starting at Rs 78.5 lakh, ex-showroom. The updated

luxury sedan

brings a host of design tweaks and tech enhancements. It will be produced locally at the company’s

Pune manufacturing facility

. It’s also worth noting that India remains the sole market globally where the RHD version of the LWB E-Class is built.

It will be available in three variants: E 200 at Rs 78.5 lakh, E220d at Rs 81.5 lakh, and E 450 4Matic at Rs 92.5 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB: Design and dimensions

The 2024 E-Class sees modest but impactful changes in its exterior dimensions and styling. The sedan is now slightly longer at 5,092mm, with a 15mm increase in wheelbase, offering more cabin space. The height has been reduced by 2mm, giving it a sleeker stance. The front grille has been revamped. It now features a star-pattern design while the front fascia looks quite different with new, slimmer LED headlights.
On the sides,

Mercedes

has also introduced flush-fitting door handles that pop out when required. Another standout feature is the Maybach-inspired rear quarter glass. It also gets redesigned 18-inch alloy wheels. The model is now available in a new Nautic Blue colour, alongside four other choices: Obsidian Black, High Tech Silver, Graphite Grey, and Polar White.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB: Interior

MBUX Superscreen

. This wide-screen infotainment system spans the dashboard, with a 12.3-inch digital driver display, a 14.4-inch central infotainment screen, and an additional 12.3-inch screen dedicated to the front passenger.
Rear-seat comfort has been a focal point of the new E-Class. The back passengers now enjoy powered outer seats, headrest cushions, and upgraded conveniences like powered sunblinds and four-zone climate control. Mercedes-Benz has also introduced features such as dual wireless charging pads—one at the front and one at the rear.

Beyond comfort, the 2024 E-Class is packed with a host of features such as a 64-colour

ambient lighting system

, and a 730W 17-speaker Burmester 4D sound system. The sedan also boasts a powered tailgate and memory functions for the front seats. On the safety front, the German carmaker has equipped the new E-Class with multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, and a 360-degree camera. It also gets

ADAS features

such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking among others.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB: Engine options

Under the hood, the new E-Class will be available with three

engine options

: a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine producing 204 hp , and a 2.0-litre diesel engine with 197 hp. Both engines come paired with an automatic gearbox as standard. The third one will be a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder petrol engine that makes 380 hp and 550 Nm.
