BENGALURU: Mining baron
Gali Janardhana Reddy
, who quit BJP a year ago to form
Karnataka Rajya Pragathi Party
, on Sunday said he will merge his party with the parent party on Monday.
The merger follows extensive meetings with Union minister
Amit Shah
and state leaders over the past week, Reddy said. Reddy’s party had won only one seat –
Koppal
‘s Gangavati, represented by him – and failed to make a big dent in BJP vote share in 2023 Karnataka assembly elections.
BJP’s Ballari LS candidate and Reddy’s ex-associate B Sriramulu persuaded Reddy to return to the party a year after he felt “sidelined” and quit it, sources said. Reddy’s return is expected to boost Sriramulu’s poll campaign in Ballari and help the party in Koppal as well. TNN
