Earthquake-ravaged Taiwan reported the detection of 30 Chinese military aircraft circling the island within a 24-hour period. China, which continues to assert its claim over Taiwan as part of its territory, has not dismissed the possibility of using force to assert control over the island. The Taiwan defense ministry stated that 20 of the aircraft breached the island’s designated Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ).
