A passenger plane reportedly carrying six people crashed in the mountainous region of Badakhshan province in northern Afghanistan, according to a government official. Russian aviation authorities stated that a Russian-registered medical aircraft disappeared from radar over Afghanistan late Saturday night, confirming local reports of a crash. The challenging terrain of the region could complicate search and rescue operations for the crashed aircraft. Local police in Badakhshan province received information about a possible plane crash in the area. Initial reports suggested the flight was traveling from India, passing through Uzbekistan, en route to Moscow when it lost contact. The Ministry of Civil Aviation later confirmed that the crashed aircraft was a Moroccan-registered DF-10 (Dassault Falcon), not operated by Indian carriers.
