NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday led the historic ‘
‘ ceremonyin the sanctum sanctorum of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The ‘mool muhurt’, in which the consecration took place, lasted just 84 seconds. Performing the rituals,
removed the 51-inch idol’s blindfold from behind and applied ‘kajal’ with a gold stick.
Dressed in a golden kurta teamed up with a cream dhoti and patka, PM Modi walked into the sanctum sanctorum of the temple holding a silver umbrella on a folded red dupatta.
The Prime Minister reached the temple shortly after 12 noon and is set to remain inside the complex for about three-and-a-half hours for the ceremony. After the ‘pran pratishtha’, the temple will open its doors for devotees.

Consecration ceremony an extraordinary moment: PM Modi
PM Modi said the consecration of the Ram Lalla idol in Ayodhya was an extraordinary moment that would make everyone full of emotions.
“It is a matter of great privilege to be part of this divine programme,” the Prime Minister said on X.
PM Modi, who offered ‘dandavat pranam’ to Lord Ram at grand Ayodhya temple, broke his 11-day special anushthan after the pran pratishtha.
Ram Lalla idol unveiled
The new Ram Lalla idol was on Monday consecrated at the newly constructed temple in Ayodhya with PM Modi participating in the rituals. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Uttar Pradesh governor Anandiben Patel and CM Yogi Adityanath were present inside the sanctorum during the rituals.
“The extraordinary moment of the consecration of Shri Ram Lalla’s life in Ayodhya Dham is going to leave everyone emotional. It is my great pleasure to be a part of this divine program. Hail Siya Ram!,” the Prime Minister said on X.
Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopters showered flower petals on the temple premises when the consecration took place.
Supernatural moment, entire country has become ‘Ram-may’: Yogi
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, who arrived for the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ at the Ram temple on Monday, said the entire country has become ‘Ram-may’ by taking a dip in the ocean of faith and devotion on the occasion.
“Amazing, unforgettable, supernatural moment! Today, in the dignified presence of respected PM Narendra Modiji, the ritual of consecration of the new idol of Lord Shri Ram Lalla is going to be completed in Shri Ayodhya Dham, the holy birthplace of Lord Shri Ram. Today, under his leadership, the wait of countless Ram devotees is going to be fulfilled. The entire country has become ‘Ram-may’ by taking a dip in the ocean of faith and devotion. Jai Shri Ram!,” Yogi said in a post on X.
‘Luckiest person on Earth’: Sculptor who carved Ram Lalla’s idol
Arun Yogiraj, the sculptor who carved Ram Lalla’s idol, called himseld the luckiest man on Earth.
“I am the luckiest person on earth. The blessings of my ancestors, family members and Lord Ram Lalla have always been with me. Sometimes, I feel like I am in a dream world. This is the biggest day for me,” he said.
BL Santhosh, BJP national general secretary, wrote on X, and remarked on Yogiraj’s devotion, stating, “His sensation of fulfilling the dreams of a nation in wait is palpable. Dhanya Dhanya hai.”
Meanwhile, Bageshwar Dham’s Dhirendra Shastri has termed this day the beginning of ‘Ram Rajya’.
Amitabh Bachchan to Sachin Tendulkar: Celebs attend grand event
Bollywood stars including Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit, Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal-Katrina Kaif, Ayushmann Khurrana, Anupam Kher and Kangana Ranaut are among others those who are at the Shri Ram Janambhoomi Complex in Ayodhya for the ceremony.
Cricket legends Anil Kumble and Sachin Tendulkar are also present at the Ram Temple.
Singers Shankar Mahadevan and Sonu Nigam added a musical touch by performing Ram Bhajan at Shri Ram Janmaboomi Temple in Ayodhya. Sonu Nigam sang ‘Ram Siya Ram’ in his soulful voice. Singer Anuradha Paudwal, along with her daughter Kavita Paudwal, also performed Ram Bhajan.
NSG snipers, ATS & 15K cops keep hawk’s eye on Ayodhya
Two teams of NSG snipers, six teams of ATS commandos and 15,000 policemen from UP along with paramilitary forces will stay on guard in Ayodhya during the consecration ceremony on Monday.
Maintaining that foolproof security arrangements have been made in the Red Zone, DG, law and order, Prashant Kumar said that 250 AI-based high-resolution cameras have been installed in the entire stretch of Ram Mandir and 319 facial reading-based CCTV cameras have been installed in the Yellow Zone, covering Parikrama area, Ram Path and Hanumangarhi. Kumar said that both these zones have separate command control centres.
Another centre has been set up for keeping vigil in the riverine area. To detect movement of aerial objects during the consecration ceremony, anti-drone technology will be used, he said.
Mandir constructed in traditional Nagara style
The magnificent Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Mandir is constructed in traditional Nagara style. Its length (east-west) is 380 feet; width is 250 feet and height is 161 feet; and is supported by a total of 392 pillars and 44 doors.
The pillars and walls of the temple showcase intricately sculpted depictions of Hindu deities, gods, and goddesses. In the main sanctum sanctorum on the ground floor, the childhood form of Lord Ram (the idol of Ram lalla) has been placed.
The main entrance to the Mandir is situated on the eastern side, which can be approached by ascending 32 stairs through the Singh Dwar.
There are a total of five Mandaps (Halls) in the Mandir – Nritya Mandap, Rang Mandap, Sabha Mandap, Prathana Mandap and Kirtan Mandap. Near the Mandir is a historic Well (Sita koop), dating back to the ancient era. In the southwestern part of the Mandir complex, at Kuber Tila, the ancient Mandir of Bhagwan Shiv has been restored, along with the installation of a statue of Jatayu.
