Ramadan calendar 2024: Iftar, Sehri timings in India

The Holy month of Ramadan begins in India on March 11. The ninth month of Islamic calendar begins with the sighting of the crescent moon. “The crescent moon, which marks the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, was sighted on Sunday evening in Saudi Arabia, according to local media. Therefore, today, March 10, is the last day of the month of Sha’ban, and the holy month will begin on Monday, March 11,” Khaleej Times reported.
Several other countries have already announced March 12 as the beginning of Ramadan, including Australia, Malaysia, Philippines and Brunei, the report added.

This month holds immense religious significance by those who believe and follow Islam religions. Islam followers observe a month-long fast during the ninth month of their calendar. They refrain from food and drink, including water, during daylight hours.
Sehri, the pre-dawn meal consumed during Ramadan, holds immense cultural and religious significance for Muslims worldwide. It is consumed before the dawn prayer or Fajr, marking the beginning of the daily fast. Sehri provides essential nutrients and hydration to sustain individuals throughout the day of fasting. It typically includes wholesome foods such as grains, proteins, fruits, and fluids to ensure sustained energy levels and hydration during the fasting hours.
