KULLU: Even as the recent
snow blocked
374 roads, including the
Manali-Atal Tunnel
and Manali-Rohtang Pass stretches, in Himachal Pradesh on Friday, the weather department predicted more snow and rain in state for four days from March 11.
According to State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), out of the total blocked roads, maximum of 285 are in Lahaul-Spiti district.
Road closures
and power outages have thrown normal life out of gear in the entire district. As many as 32 roads were blocked in Kinnaur, 27 in Chamba and 19 in Kullu, among others.Most of the areas in Lahaul-Spiti have also lost mobile and internet connectivity due to heavy snowfall.
As per SDMA, 97 Distribution Transformer Regions (DTRs) are non-functional in Pooh division, followed by 93 in Kalpa and three in Nichar subdivision. Meanwhile, as per the Meteorological Centre, Shimla, two western disturbances are likely to affect Northwest India – the first from the night of March 10 and second from the night of March 12.
While low hills will receive rains at isolated places, the mid- and high hills will get rain and snow at a few places during these four days.
There will also be thunderstorms accompanied by lightning at a few places.
