In the Nifty index, Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports, Hero MotoCorp, Hindalco Industries and ONGC were the top gainers, while Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finance, Tata Steel and

JSW Steel

were laggards.
