Thousands flee to Mizoram due to fresh violence in Myanmar

Following an airstrike by the Myanmar army in its Chin state, over 5,000 Myanmar nationals sought refuge in Mizoram, India, as reported by Lalbiakthanga Khiangte, Inspector General of Police, Mizoram Police. Two Mizoram villages along the Myanmar border are now hosting this influx. The IGP noted injuries among the refugees, with about 20 individuals affected. Eight of the injured were transferred to Aizawl for advanced medical care, while the rest received treatment in Champhai. Tragically, one of the injured individuals succumbed to their injuries the previous evening, underscoring the severity of the situation and the challenges faced by those seeking shelter.
