WBJEE Counselling 2024: What to do after seat allotment
If allotment is upgraded to first choice
If your seat allotment is upgraded to your first choice, there are a few important steps to follow. Firstly, you do not need to pay the seat acceptance fee again. Instead, download the new
allotment letter
from the official website. Once you have the new allotment letter, report to the newly allotted institute and complete all necessary
admission formalities
(PI reporting). It is crucial to complete these formalities; otherwise, your current allotment will be canceled, and you will be barred from any future seat allotments.
If allotment is upgraded to second or later choices
In the event that your allotment is upgraded to your second or later choices, you have two options. You can choose to join the institute of your upgraded allotment. To do this, download the new allotment letter, report to the newly allotted institute, and complete all admission formalities (PI reporting). Note that if you choose this option, you will not be eligible to participate in the mop-up round. Alternatively, you can decide not to join the upgraded institute and instead participate in the
mop-up round
for another chance at a different seat.
If allotment is not upgraded
If there is no upgrade in your allotment, you can opt to take admission in the institute of your earlier allotment. To do this, complete all admission formalities (PI reporting) at the initially allotted institute. Keep in mind that once you complete the admission process, you cannot participate in the mop-up round. If you choose not to take admission at the initially allotted institute, you can participate in the mop-up round.
If allotment was canceled in round 1 but allotted in round 2
If your allotment was canceled in round 1 during document verification but you receive an allotment in round 2, you must report to the newly allotted institute with the new allotment letter and all other required documents for verification. Failing to do so will result in the cancellation of your allotment, and you will be debarred from any future seat allotments.
If no allotment in round 1 but allotted in round 2
If you did not receive any allotment in round 1 but get a fresh allotment in round 2, you need to follow these steps: pay the seat acceptance fee, download the allotment letter, and report to the allotted institute with the allotment letter and all other required documents for verification. Failure to complete these steps will result in the cancellation of your allotment, and you will be debarred from participating in the mop-up round.
