has rolled out a new
search feature
for some beta testers. The Meta-owned platform is reportedly rolling out a new search message by date feature for the
WhatsApp web
users.
As reported by WABetaInfo, the instant messaging app released a new search message by date feature for the WhatsApp Web beta testers. With this new feature, the instant messaging app is making it easier for them to quickly search for messages shared on a specific date within their conversations.
The report suggests a calendar button is available while searching for messages in a conversation, that makes it possible for users to quickly open a date picker panel in order to search for a message shared on a specific date.
It’s important to mention that this feature may only be available to some users who previously joined the official beta program of WhatsApp Web.
“With the introduction of the date-based search feature, it’s finally possible to quickly locate messages from a particular date, and this not only saves time but also reduces the frustration of scrolling through long chat histories. In addition, we think that this feature is particularly helpful when it comes to recalling non-text messages, such as voice notes, which can be complicated to retrieve since those without text transcriptions cannot be searched, or when users are unable to recall the exact wording in a text message,”
WhatsApp users will soon be able to hide locked chats
WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is actively working on a new feature designed to discreetly hide locked chats. This feature is anticipated to be included in an upcoming app update. Currently, locked chat access points are visible in the chat list, potentially giving away their existence, even if they are not easily accessible. The upcoming feature will empower users to conceal this access point, necessitating the input of a secret code in the search bar to access locked chats. This enhancement significantly enhances the privacy and security of users who wish to safeguard their confidential conversations.
