Kareena Kapoor discussed pay equality in Bollywood earlier this year, sharing that she now receives the same pay as her male co-stars, including the three Khans and her husband, Saif Ali Khan.
In an interview with NDTV, Kareena shared that she is actively working towards achieving
equal pay
in her films. The actress emphasised her commitment to standing firm on her worth, stating that she is determined to take on roles that truly value her talent. She added that her efforts to match the success and recognition of her male counterparts, including achieving milestones like the Rs 1,000 crore club, are ongoing.
Kareena encouraged young women to view saying “no” as a sign of self-assurance rather than doubt. She highlighted that rejecting anything uncomfortable—be it attire, choices, or roles—reflects confidence. She urged women to aim for better opportunities and believe in their ability to achieve more without compromising on their self-worth.
Bebo has long advocated for pay equality in Bollywood. In the early 2000s, she reportedly insisted on being paid on par with Shah Rukh Khan for the lead role in Kal Ho Naa Ho. When her demand wasn’t met, Preity Zinta replaced her, leading to a brief fallout with producer Karan Johar.
She has shared the screen with Bollywood’s biggest stars, including Shah Rukh Khan (Asoka, Ra.One), Salman Khan (Kyon Ki, Me and Mrs Khanna, Bodyguard, Bajrangi Bhaijaan), Aamir Khan (3 Idiots, Talaash, Laal Singh Chaddha), and Saif Ali Khan (Tashan, Kurbaan, Agent Vinod). Her next collaboration is with Ajay Devgn in Singham Again.
