Urvashi Rautela
is a
beauty pageant
winner and while the actress eventually fulfilled all her dreams, she could never get over the fact that she couldn’t participate in ‘Miss Universe pageant’ in 2012. Urvashi had won the ‘I Am She –
Miss Universe
India’ in 2012 and the next step was to go for the Miss Universe Pageant and represent India internationally, however a major glitch happened at the last minute!
Sushmita Sen
’s company had taken over the responsibility of selecting India’s representatives.
The actress revealed the story in an interview with Mirchi Plus and said, “When I won Miss Universe India for the first time in 2012, then I was told that there is an age limit for Miss Universe… Our boss was Donald Trump. The age limit was 18, even I didn’t know that! I was 17 after I won, just about to turn 18, but, I was 24 days short from the age limit.”
Urvashi further expressed that it was the most depressing time of her life. “Sushmita Sen told me, “Urvashi you can’t go.” It was like the biggest closure of my life. I had literally worked so hard for it. If someone has beaten the rest of the contestants and come ahead, and they’re deserving then why such an age limit?”
The actress added that she went for the pageant again in 2015, but by then she had already done a couple of movies and songs. “In 2015, I went as a contestant, and by then I was already in movies and the rest of the girls thought what I was doing here? Somethings are so against you in life but you have to fight for yourself. I auditioned and worked so hard but the girls were not happy. Nobody was understanding what I was going through. Everyone questioned me why am I going, but I really wanted to.”
