Riddhima and Bharat exchanged vows in 2006. Reflecting on their first meeting with Rishi Kapoor, Riddhima jokingly remarked, “He was scared stiff!” Speaking to Galatta India, Bharat admitted feeling “definitely intimidated” by the late veteran actor.
Riddhima recalled an incident where Bharat, feeling nervous and a bit tipsy, was sweating profusely upon realizing they had to meet her father.
The encounter took place at a Mumbai Piano Bar, where her father, Rishi Kapoor, scrutinized Bharat throughout the evening, leaving him feeling uneasy with his intense gaze.

Bharat acknowledged feeling immense pressure during the meeting but appreciated the family’s warm reception, particularly from the women in the household. Despite the initial tension, he found it easier to connect with them and break the ice. Reflecting on his first encounter with Rishi Kapoor, Bharat noted that they didn’t exchange words; instead, their communication was through eye contact.
The businessman reminisced about Rishi Kapoor’s cautious approach, noting that as Riddhima was his only daughter, he took his time to assess the situation. Bharat recalled Rishi’s words, stating, “You have a couple of years, and even after that if you guys feel you are meant to be, then we will get you married.”
Riddhima explained that at the time, Bharat had recently graduated and was beginning to learn the ropes of the family business alongside his father. Understandably, her father wanted to wait a few years before considering their marriage, ensuring they were both settled and ready for such a commitment.
